Life style modification strategy to counteract Reflux Disease:

  • Lose weight
  • 3 hour gap between last meal & lying down.
  • Avoid bending after a meal.
  • Elevate the head end of the bed by 6 inches.
  • Stop smoking.
  • Avoid excess caffeine, chocolate, peppermint, acidic juices & alcohol.
  • Avoid fatty & spicy food.
  • Avoid wearing tight clothes or corsets.
  • Preferably sleep on your left side as that reduces re-flux.
  • Chew Gum.
