To overcome the ignorance about Reflux Disease


  • Make the general population aware of the fact that Reflux disease is not normal!
  • Simple life style modifications can go a long way in improving the quality of life.
  • If simple antacids and other anti reflux measures don't help matters over a period of a 

              few  months then seek help from your local GP.

  • Alert symptoms like difficulty in swallowing, vomiting, anaemia & weight loss needs a  

              doctor's attention urgently.

  • Dont ever blame any of the above symptoms to getting older or to stress and worry.
  • Remember Prevention is always better than cure! And better to be safe than sorry!!


Life style modification strategy to counteract Reflux Disease:

  • Lose weight
  • 3 hour gap between last meal & lying 


              Avoid bending after a meal.

  • Elevate the head end of the bed by 6


  • Stop smoking
  • Avoid excess caffeine, chocolate,

             peppermint, acidic juices & alcohol.

             Avoid fatty & spicy food.

  • Avoid wearing tight clothes or corsets.
  • Preferably sleep on your left side       as that reduces reflux
  • Chew Gum.

Drug therapy:

  • Antacids
  • Alginates
  • H2 Receptor antagonists PRN
  • Proton Pump Inhibitors
